28 meet Gold Standard

A squad of 28 – including nine of this year’s ten Olympians – have been named in Scotland’s new National Gold Training Squad for the forthcoming season.

Kirsty Balfour, who will soon be walking down the aisle at her wedding, is the only Beijing team member missing from the list. But she has yet to confirm her future plans.

Kris Gilchrist, Euan Dale, Gregor Tait, Todd Cooper, Hannah Miley, David Carry, Andrew Hunter, Robbie Renwick and Cailtin McCatchey are the Olympians who have all accepted their places. Now it’s a case of roll on the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

There are a number of promising youngsters, including seven of the Scots who competed in the Commonwealth Youth Games in India this month - Megan Gilchrist, Robyn Matthews, Daniel Scott, Douglas Scott, Sally Wood, Ewan Johnston and Andrew Haslett.
