Women progress as men fight relegation at European Team Championships
Scotland’s women – Frania Gillen-Buchert, Claire Kidd and Lisa Aitken – continued a great run at the European Team Championships in Malmo, Sweden, with a 3-0 victory over Luxembourg in Group F at the European Team Championships in Malmo, Sweden.
On the first day, the team whitewashed Poland and they now meet Austria, who are also unbeaten, in a group decider.
But Scotland’s men, the No.7 seeds, suffered a second successive defeat in Group B. Alan Clyne, Stuart Crawford, Jamie Macaulay and Chris Small lost 0-4 to the Netherlands and must now beat Switzerland to avoid a relegation decider.
Scotland’s men, winners of the title back in 1992, have been hindered this week by the late withdrawal of former world No.1, John White.
