White retires from British Open competition
Scotland's former world No.1 John White has revealed that last week's British Open - he reached the last 16 - will be his last. But he is still committed to playing a few tournaments, and for the Scottish team.
Last year, the Pennsylvania-based 35-year-old took up a job as head coach at the Franklin and Marshall College.
"I'll still do a few major events, like Canary Wharf, the Worlds, and all the tournaments in the US that I can drive to. I'll also be ken to play for Scotland, " White, a father of four, told the popular website. Squashsite. "But the long travelling days are over.
"The Franklin and Marshall College is 45 minutes from where I live, and the coaching job is part of a complete new life. From now on, family comes first."
Australian-born White, whose father comes from Edinburgh, is married to an American - Suzy - and their oldest son, Tyler, is nine. They also have an eight-year-old daughter and twin boys.
This month, White has dropped to No.19 in the world - Alan Clyne, who is just about to start full-time on the Professional Squash Association Tour, is the next Scot at No.131.
