

Scots guaranteed top 14 finish at World Team Championships
Scotland claimed a place in the 13/14th place play-off after battling to a 2-1 victory over Ireland on the penultimate day at the world men’s team championships in Odense in Denmark.
Alan Clyne, the Scottish No.1, and National Champion Stuart Crawford claimed the points for the team that finished 18th in India two years ago.
Chris Small lost the opening match 11-6 6-11 3-11 8-11 to former world top ten player Derek Ryan, but Clyne levelled the score with a 9-11 11-6 11-4 11-2 triumph over Liam Kenny.
In the decider, Crawford dropped the first game, but hit back to beat Arthus Gaskin 8-11 11-5 11-6 11-5.
Scotland earlier lost the chance of top 12 finish with a 3-0 defeat from Germany.
Crawford came closest to gaining a point, He had a match-ball against Jens Schoor in the fourth game, but eventually lose 11-7 5-11 11-7 12-14 7-11.
In the top match, Alan Clyne went down to world No.40, Simon Rosner 9-11 8-1 11-7 5-11, while Chris Small lost the dead rubber 11-13 11-13 to Stefan Leifels.
