Scots pick world teams

Scotland has named a strong squad to compete in the World Doubles Championships in Chennai in India from December 15-19  - although John White has declined his spot.

Team:

Men's Doubles

Jamie Macaulay & Stuart Crawford

Alan Clyne & Harry Leitch

Women's Doubles

Claire Kidd & Alex Clark

Mixed Doubles

Alan Clyne & Frania Gillen-Buchert

Lisa Aitken & Harry Leitch

The squad will be accompanied by coaches Roger Flynn (Scottish Squash National Coach) and Paul Frank (Scottish Squash National Performance Director) and managed by Ms Linda Davie.

“The World Doubles Championships are a crucial step on our path towards the 2010 Commonwealth Games,” said Frank. “The squad will benefit from the experience of Harry Leitch and Frania Gillen-Buchert, who have had success at both World Championships and Commonwealth Games competitions in the past.”

But it is Alan Clyne, who recently won his first PSA title in America, who could be the key player in Scotland’s medal bid. It is one of his key goals for 2008.
