Team Scotland whitewash England in opening round of world championships
Scotland made a great start to the world men’s team championships with a 3-0 win over India in the first of the round-robin matches in Odense in Denmark.
Scotland’s No.1 Alan Clyne led the way with a straightforward 11-7 11-4 11-5 over Ritwik Bhattachava, and Italy-based Chris Small, making his world debut at the age of 31, followed up with an 11-8 11-9 11-5 win over Gauray Nandrajog.
In the dead rubber, Scottish Champion Stuart Crawford won a very close first game 12-10 and then went on to take the next two 11-4 11-6 against Marinda Sandhu to complete the clean sweep.
In the other Pool H match, Italy, Scotland’s second round opponents, scored a whitewash 3-0 win over Venezuela.
