Mhairi and Hannah make it an all-Scottish final

Mhairi Charlton or Hannah Anthony  will become  the  first home  winner since 1998 at the Scottish Junior Open. The Aberdeen clubmates will meet in the final of the  under-17 championship at Heriot-Watt University at Riccarton. 


In the semi-finals, Mhairi, the No. 1 seed, beat South Africa’s Alexandra Fuller 11-9 6-11 11-2 11-8, while Hannah eased past fellow-Scot Lindsay Ackers by 11-6 11-4 11-5.


Canada’s Nicholas Sachvie, who knocked out Scotland’s top seeded Chris Ferguson in the quarter-finals,  reached the under-19 final and will meet American Todd Harrity for the coveted title, while England’s Sarah-Jane Perry faces Japan’s Misaki Kobayashi in the girls’ event. 


Waverley’s Ferguson will meet Ian Jubb (Tyne) in the 7th/8th place play-off, while Lisa Aitken (Montrose), who was the last Scottish winner when she took the under-11 title ten years ago, will face Claire Gray (Perth) for 7th/8th place and the honour of top Scot in the under-19 girls’ championship.
