Lyall Paterson the fourth and final player selected for Scottish world bid
Teenager Lyall Paterson has been named by National coach Roger Flynn as the fourth member of the Scottish squash team for the World Championships in Odense in Denmark next month.
Alan Clyne, Stuart Crawford and Chris Small qualified automatically after the intensive three rounds of trials.
Paterson finished fourth, sixth and fourth in the trials and was beaten by Small in the third place play-off in the final round.
“I have been impressed by Lyall’s consistency,” said Flynn. “He had two fourth places and a win over Stuart Crawford (the Scottish National Champion) at the trials.
“Overall, I’ve been pleased with the physical and mental strength demonstrated by all the players over the week of trials. Now I’m looking forward to five weeks preparation before we go to Denmark.”
