Chris Ferguson, Scotland’s top junior, beat his younger Waverley Club team mate, Dougie Kempsell, to win the West regional A Tournament at Newlands. 

Ferguson won in straight games – 11-3 11-2 11-9.

In the semi-finals, Ferguson toppled Ally McCorquodale 11-7 11-5 11-1, while Kempsell needed four games to oust another Inverness challenger, Ewen Urquhart, 11-3 10-12 11-6 11-7.

In the third place play-off, Urquhart defeated McCorquodale 11-9 5-11 11-7 11-8.
