Ferguson heads strong Scottish challenge

Chris Ferguson, from Edinburgh’s Waverley Club, is top seed in the boys’ under-19 event at the Heriot-Watt University Junior Open that has become a highlight of the summer Scottish squash calendar.

Greg Lobban (under-17) and Liam Beales (under-13) are the other Scottish No.1 seeds in the boys’ event. England’s Alex Finch is favourite in the under-15s.

In the girls’ events, Mhairi Charlton is tipped to win an under-19 event that, unfortunately, only has two competitors. Her only challenger is Ireland’s Rachel Black.

But there are healthier entries for the younger age-groups. Scot Rosie Allan, who is having a great season, is top seed at under-15 level, with Kirsty Lobban at the head of the order in the under-13s.
