

Stuart Crawford reaches final of the North of Scotland Open
Stuart Crawford was the last Scot standing after he beat South Africa’s Rudi Willemse in four close games to reach the final of the North of Scotland Open at Aberdeen SRC.
As No.2 seed, the former Scottish Champion beat third seed Willemse 11-9 6-11 12-10 12-10 to make it into the final against England’s Peter Billson.
Billson, the No.1 seed, was leading by two games to one in the second semi-final when his Scottish opponent, Jamie Macaulay, had to retire injured. The score was 11-6 11-8 7-11 5-1 for the favourite when the Shetlander pulled out.
Another three Scots made the quarter-finals. Graham Melvin lost to Billson,
teenager Lyall Paterson went down in three tight games to Macaulay, and Willemse beat the local man, Alistair Gorrie.
