Clyne aiming for World Doubles Championships
Following his great debut professional victory in the Charleston Challenge in America last week, Scotland's Alan Clyne is now switching his attention to the doubles court.
The 22-year-old will be taking part in the Scottish trials this week at Heriot-Watt University - the first preparation for the World Doubles Championships in Chennai in India in December.
"It was a fantastic win for Alan in Virginia," acknowledged Scotland's National Coach, Roger Flynn. "Now his priority will be on doubles and he will go back to the Professional Squash Association Tour at the start of next year.
"We are just waiting to hear of John White (Scotland's US-based No.1) is going to be available for Chennai. If he is, then the likely line-up will be John and Harry Leitch, and Alan and Jamie Macaulay."
Currently ranked No.142 in the world, Flynn assesses that Alan can rise into the top 100 in a relatively short period of time.
"In recent weeks, he has beaten two players ranked in the top 70, and I think around that spot is his true position. It's just that he hasn't played very many tournaments. The first win was a big breakthrough."
