Clyne starts US campaign

Scottish Champion Alan Clyne, who helped GB win the silver medal at last month's World University Championships in Cairo, is ready to launch his full-time professional career.

The Edinburgh University physical education graduate is on a two-week tour of the US and starts his campaign as the No.6 seed in the $7,000 Charleston Challenge in Virginia. He meets a qualifier in the opening round.

He then heads for an event in Houston and will have to qualify for a tournament that carries a %12,000 prize fund.

The Inverness 22-year-old is currently ranked No.142 in the world - but he has been in the top 130 and his goal is to break into the top 100 by the end of the season.

Alan has spent the last four years at University in Edinburgh and has benefited from working at the Heriot-Watt Squash Centre with National coach Roger Flynn and High Performance Director, Paul Frank.
