Clyne helps Britian to silver at University Games
Scotland's Alan Clyne couldn't quite repeat his semi-final heroics as Great Britain lost to top seeds Egypt in the final of the World University Team Squash Championships in Cairo.
Clyne, from Edinburgh University, had clinched a vital win over Malaysia to take Britain through to the final, but he lost 11-8 11-8 11-7 to the highly-experienced Egyptian, Ramr Ashour.
Joel Hinds then lost the second tie to leave the host team in an unassailable position. It was the first time that Egypt had won the prestigious title.
In the bronze medal play-off, Malaysia beat Canada 2-0.
Clyne, who graduated in physical education this summer, is now ready to play as a full-timer on the Professional Squash Association circuit - his results in Cairo suggest he is ready to make rapid progress from his current top 130 world ranking.
