Scotland’s Alan Clyne underlined his potential when he came so close to pulling off a real shock win in the final round of qualifying at the ATCO British Open in Manchester.

Earlier in the week, Clyne reached the final of the UK Grand Prix Finals in Jersey, only losing out to world No.21 Daryl Selby in three close games.

Clyne, who will be leading Scotland at the world championships in Denmark later this month, beat English legend Simon parke 11-2 12-10 11-13 11-9 in the semis before going down 9-11 10-12 9-11 to Selby in the final.
