Edinburgh teenager Chris Ferguson has confirmed he is Scotland’s top junior player by winning both the West and Central Scotland Junior Opens at the start of this season.

In the Central event, the Waverley youngster beat his clubmate Dougie Kempsell 11-5 13-11 11-6 in the final at Bridge of Allan.

In fact, Ferguson’s closest contest came in the second round when he dropped a game to Greg Lobban, from Inverness. Kempsell also needed three games to beat Perth’s David Jones at the same stage.
