Musgrave looking for more improvement despite impressive start to season
Huntly?s Andrew Musgrave insists there is plenty of room for improvement despite achieving his highest score at the opening cross-country race of the season in Beitost?len, Norway.
In his 11th appearance, Musgrave, 19, finished 6.58 per cent behind the winner, coming home in 72nd place ? earning 52.64 points in the process.
Musgrave was the youngest competitor in the 100-strong field in the 15km race and the Scot revealed his season-opening performance is just the tip of the iceberg.
?It went quite well, but I feel I have more to give, and hope to improve as the season progresses,? said Musgrave.
While British Nordic head coach Roy Young believes Musgrave is wise beyond his years.
?Andrew started out in control and kept up the pace throughout the whole race,? he said. ?He managed to progressively gain time over his competitors on each of the three laps, partly by pushing hard on the hill climbs. It was a good day for Andrew who raced well in a challenging field, with a mature head on his shoulders.?
