Scottish skier Jo Morrison to use Australian outing as springboard
Banchory skier Jo Morrison has vowed to come of age on the slopes this winter after spending the summer competing in Australia.
The 17-year-old underlined his future potential in February when he was selected for the British team bound for the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Poland.
Morrison failed to progress beyond the second run in both the slalom and the giant slalom but took his performance on the chin and opted to go Down Under following the British Junior Championships in France.
The Gordon Skier – who finished a best of 24th in Meribel – competed at the Australian New Zealand Cup in August and believes he is perfectly set to make the step up to the full British team.
“My main aims for the immediate future are to get into the Great Britain team and show everyone what I can do,” said Morrison – who also competed at the Australian Junior Championships in August.
“I know I’m capable of more and hopefully I can do enough to get into the Great Britain squad sooner rather than later.
“My ultimate goal is obviously to compete at a winter Olympics for Great Britain – that would be a dream come true.
“To get there would be a brilliant achievement and make all the hard work I’ve been putting-in worthwhile.”
