Congratulations to five Scots - Joe Morrison, Alistair Strang, Alexandra Tilley, Charlotte Guest and Christy McKinnon – on their selection for the British ski team for the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Poland next month.

Held every two years, the event is for youngsters aged 15-16 and covers all the Winter Olympic disciplines.  

There are eight Britons in the ski squad, and Ross Gardner, Scotland’s National Performance Manager, is delighted with the Scottish input. 

“England has tended to overtake Scotland in skiing terms in recent years due to lack of snow here and an easier accessibility to the Alps,” he said. “This shows that we now have a depth of good skiers.”

The youngsters will be competing in Super G and slalom at the Festival in Slask-Beskidy from February 15-20, and there will be live coverage on Eurosport.
