Polley on the podium for fourth year running at English Ski Championships
Alva skier Dani Polley made her comeback from injury official, by skiing to a 1st and 2nd place in the English Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy, last week. Both races represented career bests for Dani in the Giant Slalom and Super Giant Slalom respectively.
17-year-old Dani narrowly missed making it a third podium place as she was also winning the slalom discipline until 10 gates from the end when a small mistake saw her drop to 5th place.
This 5th place was enough however to make her the best overall British girl for the three day meeting.
In the Super G, Dani’s 1st place meant that she retained the title she won in 2008 and also means that she has now won her age category of Super G at the English every year since 2005. Particularly impressive was the margin of victory, beating the nearest British competitor by 4 seconds.
Dani receives assistance from Lloyds TSB as part of their Local Heroes Initiative and from Xscape, Glasgow and would like to extend her thanks for their valuable support. She is also grateful to Alva Academy for granting her time off to train and race. She races for the Muckhart and District Ski Club who run a race training programme at Firpark Ski Centre, Tillicoultry.
