Hendry overcomes fellow Scot Campbell at Shanghai Masters
Stephen Hendry showed glimpses of his very best form at the Shanghai Masters as he came from 4-0 down to beat fellow Scot Marcus Campbell 5-4.
The seven-time world champion looked set for the earliest possible exit before launching his stunning comeback.
The world No. 10 compiled breaks of 68, 78 and 81 to turn the tide and will now face defending champion Ricky Walden in the second round.
“When I was 4-0 down I was thinking about going home and had no confidence in winning the match so it’s one of my best comebacks – especially against someone like Marcus,” said Hendry.
“I just wanted to make the score respectable but once I got the score back to 4-2 I knew Marcus would have some doubts in his mind.”
Reigning world champion John Higgins also booked his place in the next round after beating qualifier Matthew Selt 5-2 and he will now face Stuart Bingham.
