Scots hit the mark

Last weekend saw three Scots achieve the minimum qualifying scores required to compete for Scotland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

In the Olympic Trap (trench) discipline at a British shooting competition held in Nuthampstead in England, the Scottish trio of Ozzie Maclean (West Lothian), Andrew Addison (Airdrie) and John MacDonald (Fort William) all hit the mark.

Commenting on their performance, Tony Lithgow, CEO of the Scottish Clay Target Shooting Association said: "These results basically give the guys an edge to get selected for the Games."

"Unless you shoot a minimum qualifying score you'll not even be quoted (considered) so at least they are now on the first rung of the ladder (to get to Delhi)," added Lithgow.

The sport's chief executive estimates there are over 1400 sports target shooting enthusiasts across the country.
