French Lady dominates Scottish Series

After the final day of the Bell Lawrie Scottish Series off Tarbert, the coveted silverware for Scotland's largest regatta has sailed into French hands for the first time in the events 31-year history.
For whilst aboard Jump Juice, reigning champion and Irish skipper Conor Phelan finished in 4th place after eight hard fought IRC1 races, by Sunday afternoon Frenchman Gery Trenteseaux had steered his 45ft Lady Courrier to an almost unassailable 5 wins in a row.
24 hours later, and having settled for second place behind the Irish boat, Marinerscove.ie in races seven and eight, the Frenchman knew he'd done enough to take the title back to France.
Indeed, since racing began on Friday the top-flight IRC1 class has been dominated by overseas boats with the Frenchman ahead of the three Cork based skippers, Marinerscove.ie, Antix Eile and Jump Juice.
Jonathan Anderson, a three time former champion from Renfrewshire and skipper of Playing FTSE, finished in 5th place as Scotland's highest placed sailor in the IRC1 class.
Over 170 yachts are contesting the annual regatta organised by Clyde Cruising Club.
