Charlotte Dobson in the chasing pack at Gold Regatta in Weymouth
Charlotte Dobson flew the Scotland flag in style at day one of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth to stand at sixth in the Laser Radial class.
Dobson finished seventh and sixth in her two races on the opening day of the six day regatta at the London 2012 Olympic venue,
Finnish sailor Sari Multala leads the way overall but Dobson - who grew up in Helensburgh - will be confident of giving her a run for her money on day two.
Aberdeen-born Luke Patience also dealt well with some tricky weather conditions on the first day of the last event on the ISAF World Cup calendar - finishing second in the second race of the 470 class.
He and partner Stuart Bithell struggled to cope with leading pair Mathew Belcher and Malcom Page but will look to launch an assault on the Australian leaders during the rest of the week.
Inverclyde sailor Mark Andrews also had an encouraging start, racing to a seventh place finish in the opening Finn-class race of the day.
