Luke Patience takes silver medal in the 470 class at Sail for Gold Regatta
Luke Patience and his partner Stuart Bithell grabbed a silver medal in the 470 class at Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in Weymouth.
A second-place finish in the medal race was enough to see Patience and Bithell move up into second overall, overtaking the Australian pair of Mathew Belcher and Iain Page, who led the regatta for most of the week.
The Helensburgh sailor admitted he was delighted with their performance over the week which saw them pipped to gold by British team mates Nic Asher and Elliot Willis.
?We are so happy with our silver medal, our aim was to come away with a medal this week. It was really close all week and it could have gone either way,? said Patience.
?I hope Nic and Elliot are looking nervously over their shoulders at us - we have every intention of taking this good result and pushing hard up all the way up to 2012.?
Meanwhile in the Radial class, Charlotte Dobson finished the week in seventh.
Dobson, also from Helensburgh, managed an eighth-place finish in the medal race, which was enough to move her up one place in the overall standings.
