Andy Robinson cites winning as the number one priority for Scotland
Scotland head coach Andy Robinson insists his side need to learn win ugly if they are going to become a force in world rugby.
Robinson left his job at Edinburgh to replace departing coach Frank Hadden at the Scotland helm in June and will preside over his first full internationals in the November tests.
And the former England supremo believes his side have the quality to bring some much-needed sporting optimism back to the country.
He said: “We're there to inspire the nation through our performances.
“But some days you've got to win ugly. It's all about beating the opposition.
“It's important for us to develop a winning mindset and that's our focus game by game.
“Over the next couple of weeks guys will be putting their hands up to be included for these games - and some are already in because of the way they've been performing.
“All three sides are above us in the IRB world rankings, and they all have different playing styles.
“So we're going to have to change our tactics for each game, and it'll be about the players being able to handle that.”
