Edinburgh rally in second half to sink Ulster in Heineken Cup
Edinburgh’s Tim Visser crashed over ten minutes from time to complete a memorable comeback over Ulster and keep Scottish Heineken Cup hopes alive with a 17-13 victory.
The hosts were staring virtual elimination in the face after letting a 6-0 lead slip to trail 13-6 with just over half an hour remaining.
But Visser – who joined from Newcastle in the summer - burst through to score in between two Phil Godman penalties and keep alive Edinburgh’s Pool Four hopes.
Phil Godman handed the hosts a perfect start when he fired over a penalty in the opening minute of the match.
The 27-year-old fly-half repeated the trick 20 minutes later only for winger Timoci Nagusa’s converted try to put Ulster ahead on 23 minutes.
Ian Humphrey’s followed up his two point score with an additional two penalties to extend the Irish side’s lead before Godman added a penalty of his own to peg Ulster back.
And with the clock counting down to the final ten minutes Visser crossed before Godman sealed the win with a 79th minute penalty.
