Visser makes way for Connacht clash

Winger Tim Visser has been dropped from the Edinburgh squad to face Connacht despite scoring a try in the shock 22-21 win at Cardiff.

Andrew Turnbull has got the nod from coach Rob Moffat to replace Visser and Lions hooker Ross Ford could make his first appearance after being named on the bench.

Scotland captain Mike Blair has been provisionally named on the bench for the clash but he will face a fitness test after being laid low with a throat infection.

If Blair, who also went on the Lions tour, does miss out Scotland under-20 scrum-half Ross Samson will take his place on the bench.

But for Ford the second round of the season can’t come soon enough.

“It’s fantastic to be back in the squad for the match against Connacht,” said Ford.

“I’ve been back in training for a month and feel really fresh and I’m really looking forward to getting back into it.

“We had a great result at Cardiff and hopefully I will be able to help the team build on that.”
