Touch challenge for Scots
With the IRB World Seven's descending on Edinburgh this weekend, rugby fans are assured of fast-paced competitive action as Scotland take on the likes of Australia and South Africa.

But as that tournament reaches its finale, another group of ultra-fast Scots with deft rugby ball handling skills are quietly preparing for a major international tournament.  The touch rugby players.

For as their packed domestic competitive calendar gets underway, six Scottish squads (Men's Open, Women's Open, Mixed Open, Men's over 30's, Women's over 30's and Men's over 35's) are also hard in training for the forthcoming European Championships to be held in Massy, France between 11th and 13th July.

Among the players in training for the European's to be staged outside Paris is 19 year-old Colin Anderson.  Part of the Mixed Open squad, the reigning Home Nations champions, the Dundee born athlete is the youngest player selected to be part of the representative squad.

However, the teenager who earned his first cap at the 2006 European Championships in Edinburgh has already highlighted his potential in the sport.

At the 2007 Touch World Cup in Stellenbosch, South Africa, Anderson was named the Scotland Men's Open team's Most Valuable Player.

Quite an accolade when it's noted that the MVP award for each team is based on ratings given by the managers of the opposition!

Scotland has also won the right to host the FIT Touch World Cup in 2011 in Edinburgh.
