Smith excited by Edinburgh job

Former British and Irish Lion Tom Smith is planning a Scottish homecoming after agreeing to become Rob Moffat's new forwards coach at Edinburgh.

The 37-year-old hung up his boots last season after nearly eight years with Northampton Saints but has wasted little time finding his next role.

And Smith, a former Scotland captain, has vowed to mark his return north of the border by helping Edinburgh to go one better than last season?s second place Magners League finish.

"I am delighted to be returning to Scotland and I am really looking forward to working with Rob and the rest of the team at Edinburgh," said Smith, who was capped 61 times for Scotland.

"The talent in the squad is obvious and my focus will be to assist the players as they strive to improve on last season's runners-up position in the Magners League and to qualify for the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup."
