Scotland under-20 duo Nick Campbell and Fraser Brown have flown home from the IRB World Championship after picking up injuries.
Lock Campbell sustained a knee injury during the Scots final pool match against Japan while skipper Brown is suffering from a damaged shoulder.
Neither will feature for the remainder of the campaign with Alun Walker and Tom Drennan expected to join up with the squad in Osaka.
Scotland have won just once with Campbell and Brown in the squad but will have to look elsewhere ahead of Wednesday's ninth place semi-final against Fiji.
