SRU dealt major blow as kit sponsor Canterbury goes into administration
Scotland's national rugby team could be forced to find a new kit supplier after sportwear company Canterbury Europe was put into administration.
The SRU had a deal with the company which was worth £1m a year and was due to run until after the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
But following heavy financial losses the company was put into administration by KPMG, leaving Scotland facing kit catastrophe.
An SRU spokesman said "The SRU is concerned to hear reports about Canterbury Europe Ltd.
"We are endeavoring to make immediate contact with the administrators KPMG to clarify the position."
The collapse comes just one week after Diadora, which sponsors the Scotland football team, went into administration, that contract was also worth £1m per year.
Canterbury also supply the kits for Glasgow Warriors and Motherwell football team who could also suffer as a result.
