Scotland A win first trophy of Andy Robinson's tenure
New Scotland coach Andy Robinson thanked his players after they started his reign in style by securing the IRB Nations Cup.
Glasgow Warriors stand-off Ruaridh Jackson was the star of the show in the 22-12 win over France as he helped himself to 17 points.
Robinson had already guided his new side to wins over Russia and Uruguay and was delighted with their performances in Romania.
Fabrice Estebanez kicked three penalties for France A, who were only three points behind midway through the second half, before Vernon’s crucial try in the 71st minute.
Robinson said: "The players have worked really hard over the past two weeks and they have got their rewards.
"They have shown a fantastic attitude and have put us in a position to win games and I look forward to seeing that application in the future.
"We had experience with the likes of Chris Cusiter playing but a lot of young guys who blended in really well and showed what they can do."
