Scots face a struggle to re-qualify for Junior World Championships in wooden spoon decider
Scotland under-20s now face a battle to avoid the Pool B wooden spoon with Japan at the Junior World Championships after being defeated 30-7 by England.
It was their second straight defeat after their 17-14 loss to Samoa, which leaves them struggling to qualify for next year's tournament in Argentina.
A solitary try by Glasgow's Peter Jerecevich was all the young Scots had to show for their efforts with England's scores coming from Charlie Sharples, Henry Trinder, Luke Eves and Carl Fearns.
A Tom Homer penalty in the third minute opened the scoring, before a fumble by Ashleah McCulloch at a ruck allowed Sharples to sprint clear for the first try, which Homer converted.
Trinder struck next when he finished from close range after being picked out by fly-half Rob Miller from a line out.
Another conversion and a penalty by Homer meant Scotland had an insurmountable 20-0 half-time deficit to overturn.
The further scores by Eves and Fearns came before Jerecevich?s consolation, when he managed to burrow over with Peter Horne adding the extras.
Frank Moffat's men will now face a crucial clash with Japan on Saturday to decide who finishes bottom of the pool.
