Thom Evans out and Sean Lamont in for Murrayfield sevens
Scotland's bid to land the Murrayfield Sevens this weekend has been hit after Glasgow livewire Thom Evans was forced to drop out injured.
Evans suffered a foot ligament injury after playing just two ties against Kenya and Fiji in the previous leg of the sevens circuit at Twickenham last weekend as Scotland lost to England in the semi-finals.
Evans, who featured for Scotland in San Diego and Wellington earlier this year, will be replaced in the squad by full international Sean Lamont.
The 28-year-old, who has 36 caps to his name in the 15-a-side game and has recently, clinched a move to Llanelli Scarlets, played for Scotland at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
"I was sitting watching the London Sevens on television and thinking it would be nice to play again, especially in such nice weather," said Lamont.
"It was surreal when I got a call from (Scotland sevens coach] Stevie Gemmell asking me if I wanted to play.
"I feel like the pressure is on me now because the guys put in such a great performance at Twickenham. I'm actually more nervous about this weekend's tournament than I have been about any of the other games I've played in."
Scotland sevens coach Gemmell added: "Sean's addition is great news in terms of bringing in international quality players to the squad.
"It puts out a real statement about our intentions this weekend and I hope it helps to encourage the Scottish public to come out and support the team."
Scotland have been drawn in the same group with England, Kenya and Canada at Murrayfield.

Posted On: 27 May 2009, 16:10 By: barnaby harrisonThe Scotland management have certainly laid their stall out on the level of performance they are expecting and how seriously they want to compete on the final legs of the series. I am sure it will be noted by other teams that Scotland will be a massive threat on their home turf and potential stumbling block to England who are still in with a slim chance of a series win!
