Andy Robinson refuses to divulge details of team's 'mystery goal'
Scotland boss Andy Robinson has set his team and himself a ‘major goal’ – but he won’t be telling anyone what it is.
The new national team chief will name his first full international squad today as he gears up for the Bank of Scotland autumn tests.
Scotland kick off the campaign with a clash against Fiji at Murrayfield on November 14 with Australia and Argentina also visiting the home of Scottish rugby.
And Robinson – who took over the reins from former Scotland boss Frank Hadden at the beginning of June – admits he can’t wait for the big kick off.
"I have a major goal for us, as a team,” said Robinson. “It's a private goal at the moment, but it's something I've explained to people in the SRU and all the staff – they know what the aim is.
"And I think it's achievable, but it's achievable by the hard work we put in and we are at times going to go through some tough challenges.
"You have got to have a goal, something to focus on, but also a purpose. Why am I here?
“Why am I involved? To inspire a nation. We inspire a nation by our winning performance. The team does that and that's what we're about.
“People ask what my motivational skills are about. It's pretty simple – when you're putting that blue shirt on you're going out there to win and to inspire the nation."
