Robinson refuses to discuss Scotland job

Scottish rugby chiefs could be left with an unwanted headache on Monday if bookies favourite Andy Robinson rules himself out of the running to be named as the new national team boss.

The SRU have set Monday as a deadline day for all applications from those interested in replacing the recently departed Frank Hadden.

With Glasgow boss Sean Lineen having already ruled himself out of the running, Scotland bosses could be left red-faced if Robinson, who suffered a disastrous spell at the England helm after the 2003 World Cup, turns down the opportunity.

The 45-year-old, speaking after Friday night's home 27-16 win against Leinster in the Magners League, said: "The deadline is the 20th and there's still a bit of work to be done.

"I think I've shown that I'm passionate about Scottish rugby in the way that I've worked here at Edinburgh and coached the Scotland 'A' team. I've a real passion for the players here.

"There are a few things I want to make sure of in my mind before I make the decision.

"My decision will be made on Monday. I'm lucky enough I've got the time to make that decision and that's what I'll do."
