Grove makes debut while Cusiter gains captaincy for Scotland's clash with Fiji
Scotland head coach Andy Robinson will hand Worcester Warriors centre Alex Grove his senior international debut against Fiji at Murrayfield on Saturday.
The 21-year-old, who qualifies for Scotland via his maternal grandfather, formed part of Scotland A’s victorious IRB Nations Cup team earlier this year.
Chris Cusiter will be Robinson's starting scrum-half and captain, a position he shares with Mike Blair, who is on the bench.
Glasgow Warriors tight-head prop Moray Low is also picked for his first start in what will be Robinson’s first game following his appointment in June.
Edinburgh’s Phil Godman gets the nod at fly-half while Rory Lamont will play full-back with brother Sean on the wing.
“We have selected a side that’s full of power and that has the pace but also has the skill level to break down the Fijians,” said Robinson.
“Fiji are above us in the IRB rankings. They are a very dangerous team to play against. They are a very strong, powerful side who also hit very hard (in the tackle). We have to match fire with fire.”
Scotland team:
Lamont R, Lamont S, Grove, Morrison, Danielli, Godman, Cusiter, Jacobsen, Ford, Low, Hines, Kellock, Strokosch, Beattie, Barclay.
Replacements: Hall, Traynor, White, Vernon, Blair, Paterson, De Luca.
