Robinson calls on Scottish No.9s to lead from the front for Scotland
Andy Robinson insists Scottish scrum-halfs will be given maximum responsibility under his reign as Rory Lawson replaces fellow No.9 Chris Cusiter as captain for Scotland A's clash with Uruguay.
With Edinburgh and Lions scrum-half Mike Blair acting as national skipper, many felt Robinson, who was a rampaging flanker in his playing days, would turn to a fellow forward in the IRB Nations Cup.
But Robinson maintains he is willing to place all his faith in the triumvirate of Blair, Cusiter and Lawson.
He said: "I want to get into the situation over the next couple of years that if we're selecting a nine at captain any of them can captain the team.
"You have got to have right people as captains, people that can make decisions, but they can handle the situation, speak well and understand the game and that's what helps them to be very good captains.
"They're also quality performers outstanding players in their position. I've seen it before with Chris and with Rory, and it's something I want to explore. I had no hesitation in asking Rory to do the job.
"Al Kellock leads the forwards well and has the potential to be an outstanding captain, but this is something I want to see the nines and how they lead."
