Andy Robinson sets fitness standards for new Scottish regime
Andy Robinson maintains getting fit will be Scotland?s No.1 priority after lifting the IRB Nations Cup on Sunday.
New boss Robinson was part of the coaching set up that made England the fittest team in world rugby going into the 2003 World Cup.
And he insists there is no time to waste heading into his first game in charge of the senior team against Fiji on November 14.
He said: "The limitation for all players is fitness. You can always get fitter, so that's one area throughout this summer that these players can make the biggest gains.
"You have to work to get the end results and that's one part I'm looking at, there's also individual skills, understanding of the game etc.
"At Edinburgh we brought in standards, it was layered from 'get your coat and go home' to 'professional standard', 'Magners League', 'European Cup winner' and 'world-class'.
"I've got a lot of time for American systems and having that dangling over you, to me, keeps you pushing.
"So, the first focus for the guys now is to start reaching those standards with their summer fitness work."
