Ayr take points in opener against last season's closest rivals
Defending champions Ayr had the perfect start to their Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership season campaign with a 37-21 opening day victory over Heriots.
Ross Curle was the star of the show for Ayr, the 21-year old scoring two of his team’s five tries.
Currie also impressed in division one as they romped past a lacklustre Dundee side 41-18 and there were wins for Melrose, Edinburgh Academicals, Watsonians and Boroughmuir.
Kirkcaldy were in devastating form in division two as they notched a bonus point for their six tries in a 45-21 victory over Haddington.
A second-half comeback from Aberdeen GSFP handed them a 17-13 victory over Peebles and there were narrow wins for Jed-Forest and Hawick.
Elsewhere Kelso got off the mark with a 13-8 win over GHA and Bigger came out 28-15 winners against Dunfermline.
In division three, Hamilton and Musselburgh both scored seven tries in their wins against Adrossan Academicals and Irvine respectively.
