Chris Paterson sweats while McGeechan ponders possible Lions call-ups
Chris Paterson scooped Scotland rugby's player of the year last night, but he could be in line for more action this summer.
Paterson was the fans' vote after his impressive Six Nations performances but following more injuries to Ian McGeechan's Lions squad, the dependable Edinburgh full-back could find himself on the plane to South Africa.
Wales back Leigh Halfpenny has returned home from the Lions' Surrey training base after his thigh injury proved to be worse than first thought.
Former Scotland coach McGeechan has already been forced to make changes to his 37-man squad, with England forward Tom Croft called in to replace banned Alan Quinlan.
And Paterson, who picked up his Scotland Rugby Supporters Club award at a star-stunned ceremony at Murrayfield last night, is keeping his fingers crossed for a call up.
Meanwhile, Glasgow's Max Evans won the Magners League player of the year while Roddy Grant scooped the Scotland Sevens player award.
