Nathan Hines and Euan Murray the only Scots included in the Lions squad to tour South Africa
Scotland will have a threadbare showing on the British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa with just two players making Ian McGeechan's 37-strong squad.
Northampton prop Euan Murray, a dead cert prior to the announcement, and Australian-born lock Nathan Hines were the only players selected in Scotland's lowest turnout for nearly 80 years.
Just three, Gordon Bulloch, Simon Taylor and Chris Cusiter, travelled to New Zealand four years ago with Scottish captain Mike Blair the shock omission.
Scotland's all time leading points scorer Chris Paterson also missed out while hooker Ross Ford's late surge to form with Edinburgh proved too little too late.
No Scottish backs were included with Glasgow wing Thom Evans also missing out as coach McGeechan picked mainly on form over the past six months.
