Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat pays tribute to fly-half Phil Godman
Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat has paid tribute to fly-half Phil Godman after his stunning start to the season.
Godman has been one of the Gunners stars in their flawless start to the campaign and emphasised his improvement with the winning drop goal against Ulster on Friday.
The 27-year-old, who made his Scotland debut in 2005, has failed to deliver on the big stage in recent seasons but Moffat believes he is finally coming of age.
“The one word I would use for Phil at the moment is maturity,” said Moffat.
“He’s not panicking at all these days – we spent almost the entire first half an hour in Ulster in our own half but Phil didn’t try and force the game like he would have done in the past.
“He’s not the most natural kicking fly-half but against Ulster it would be interesting to see his kick-pass percentage stats because he often had no option to kick because we spent so long on the back foot.”
