Edinburgh coach Moffat keeps faith in rotation system
Edinburgh coach Rob Moffat insists he expects every player in his squad to play a full part in the Gunners’ campaign after again ringing the changes for the visit of Magners League champions Munster.
Points machine Chris Paterson comes in for Steve Jones at full-back, while Scott Newlands replaces Allister Hogg at the back of the scrum and centre Ben Cairns replaces winger Mark Robertson.
Both Hogg and Robertson had started all seven games for Edinburgh this season but Moffat maintains no player will be immune from his rotational policy.
He said: “Every player wants to play every game, but the players have to have confidence in us and our ability to manage them, and the squad.
“We have to get the message across that when people are left out it's not necessarily because they're playing badly.
“It's a double-edged sword. If you let the player keep playing and his performance drops off, how can you expect a player who's hardly played any rugby to come in and suddenly play right up to that pace and speed?
“If we do that the team performs better and we win more games; it's as simple as that. You can't play with just 15, 16 or 18 players.”
