Lions coach Ian McGeechan to take up new role with London Scottish
Lions coach Ian McGeechan is rumoured to be lined up for the director of rugby role at London Scottish.
Reports suggest the former Scotland national coach will leave his role at Guinness Premiership side Wasps over the summer after a trophyless season.
The 62-year-old will lead the British & Irish Lions team to South Africa next month and has been with Wasps for four seasons.
McGeechan, a Scotland captain in his playing days, joined as Wasps director of rugby in 2005 and has guided the side to Guinness Premiership and Heineken Cup success.
But this season McGeechan and head coach Shaun Edwards have come under pressure as Wasps failed to win a trophy for the first time in seven years.
Scottish will line up in the new National One league next season after cruising to the National Three title this season.
A London Scottish statement said: "Ian McGeechan is very interested in the development of Scottish rugby and has provided valuable guidance to London Scottish in the past. However, Ian does not have a specific role with the club at present."
