Flanker Alan MacDonald focused on Edinburgh title charge
Edinburgh flanker Alan MacDonald admits his long awaited Scotland debut will have to take a backseat to his side’s Magners League ambitions.
The 24-year-old has been named in Andy Robinson’s squad for the autumn international opener against Fiji at Murrayfield next month.
But MacDonald – who was named Edinburgh player of the season last year – is determined to focus on taking maximum points from their next game against Newport-Gwent Dragons.
He said: “I’m delighted to get the Scotland call-up but with some huge games coming up I’m going to put it to the back of my mind.
“Beating Munster at the weekend was a huge win and our composure and character allowed us to seal the win.
“The Dragons will be another big task and the focus is now on them – we are on a good streak at the moment and we need to keep winning because it could be important in the final shake-up.”
