Sean Lineen hits out after Glasgow lose in Wales
Glasgow coach Sean Lineen admits his side were their own worst enemies after seeing their Heineken Cup hopes go up in smoke in defeat to Newport Gwent Dragons.
The Warriors left South Wales with not even the consolation of a bonus point as the Dragons cruised to a 22-14 victory.
And Lineen believes Glasgow’s hopes for qualifying from the group are all but over following the defeat.
“We lost the game, the Dragons did not win it,” he said. “All their three tries came from us having lost the ball originally, we showed a lot of naivety and a lack of direction. When we made mistakes a couple of heads went down and they took full advantage.
“The difference was that the Dragons capitalised on their opportunities, while we gave away far too much. It was a huge disappointment because we have the ability to do much better.
“They scored two tries from turnovers and one from a lineout drive, our players had a rollicking at half-time and they went back out and won the second half 7-0 but that was too late.
“That is the end of our Heineken Cup so we need to make changes and concentrate on the league, which is not a bad thing with this group of players but I thought they were better than that.”
