Sean Lamont relishing prospect of facing Scottish rivals
Scotland winger Sean Lamont admits the emergence of brothers Max and Thom Evans onto the international scene has given him a ‘kick up the backside’.
Lamont was dropped after Scotland’s defeat to Wales in the opening game of Six Nations with Glasgow flyer Evans coming into the side.
And Lamont revealed his recent move from Northampton to the Scarlets was partly motivated by his desire to impress new Scotland coach Andy Robinson.
“From my point of view playing in the Magners League will see me come up against Glasgow and Edinburgh and bring me more into contact with the Scottish selectors,” said Lamont who has struggled with injuries over the past two years.
“I would like to get back to my pre-injury form. When you miss a year through injury it does take you a while to find your feet again but the training down here has been fantastic and I am getting there.
“Competition for places is really good for Scotland and you have got two young players in Thom and Max Evans who have really stepped up. On a personal level it is good to get a kick up the backside.”
