Hines insists Lions mentally tougher than Scotland

Nathan Hines insists the memory of Scotland's defeat to South Africa in the autumn internationals will give him all the motivation he needs for the Lions.

The 32-year-old lock became the first Scottish player to score a try at Murrayfield in 14 months as Frank Hadden?s side raced into 10-0 halftime lead only for the Boks to turn it around winning 14-10.

And Hines promised history will not repeat itself in a Lions shirt.

He said: "We should have beaten the Boks but I think we were stunned we were in front.

"We didn't know what to do in that winning position as we thought we didn't deserve to be in control but there is much more confidence within the Lions.

"There are a couple of guys who have beaten the Boks and we have that mental toughness throughout the group. Many of the players have reached the highest level and sustained that standard.

"We expect to beat the Boks and we won't blow situations such as those."
